Description

Git is a well established tool for the version control of files. Although commonly used for managing code in software development, it is also useful for tracking other kind of data, especially text-based data such as csv, xml, etc.

GitLab is an open-source web frontend for hosting and managing git repositories. Besides the management of code it includes other useful features such as issue-tracking or a wiki. RWTH Aachen University provides a central GitLab instance.

Objective

This course supplies you with learning material to help you with installing Git, creating a project and getting introduced to some basic workflows.
