Open Research Europe (ORE)
The European Commission is responsible for Open Research Europe, an open access publishing service offered to authors involved in Horizon 2020, Horizon Europe and Euratom projects for publishing their research stemming from EC funding.
ORE offers an innovative and transparent open science publishing model:
- Immediate open access publication
- Articles are usually published under a CC-BY license
- Post-publication peer review
- Possibility to publish all types research outputs (e.g., Data Notes, Method Articles, Software Tools and more)
- Transparent, open access and compliant with the European Commission’s publishing and data requirements
- Publishing for free, the article processing charge (APC) is paid by the European Commission for grant holders.

ArtDok - Art History Publication Platform
ArtDok is the full-text server of the Virtual Library for Art, arthistoricum.net. It offers members of the academic community worldwide the opportunity to publish their texts in electronic format on the internet at no charge according to the Open Access guidelines. The works are permanently archived in a citable format with standardized addresses (URN) and metadata (OAIPMH).
PropyläumDok - Ancient Studies Publication Platform
Propylaeum-DOK is the full-text server of the Virtual Library for Ancient Studies. It offers members of the academic community worldwide the opportunity to publish their texts from all disciplines within ancient studies in electronic format on the internet at no charge according to the Open Access guidelines. The works are permanently archived in a citable format with standardized addresses (URN) and metadata (OAIPMH).

bioRxiv - Preprint-Server for the Life Sciences
Unpublished preprints in the life sciences can be posted on bioRxiv. By posting preprints on bioRxiv, authors are able to make their findings immediately available to the scientific community and receive feedback on draft manuscripts before they undergo a journal's peer review process. Preprints deposited in bioRxiv can be cited using their digital object identifier (doi) and authors can choose from several distribution/reuse options under which to make the article available.

Beilstein Journal of Organic Chemistry
Beilstein Journal of Organic Chemistry is an international, peer-reviewed Open Access journal for the field of organic chemistry. The journal does not charge any subscription or publication fees, thus making it free for both authors and readers. The combination of its archival in PubMed Central, one of the largest digital full-text archives worldwide, and indexing in PubMed fulfill the archivation requirements of many funding institutions. Furthermore, the journal is listed in the journal Science Citation Index Expanded (Clarivate Analytics) and indexed at Chemical Abstracts Services (CAS).

e-LiS (E-prints in library and information science) exists since 2003 and is the international disciplinary repository for library and information science. The publication platform provides access to about 20,000 documents, such as journal articles, conference papers, conference posters, presentations, books, book chapters, reports, qualifying theses, and dissertations. Both already published and unpublished scientific contributions are provided.

GMS – German Medical Science
German Medical Science is a portal for online journals and meeting and research reports in the field of medicine. Publications are licensed in Open Access, thus accessible free of charge. They also undergo peer review process. Published contributions receive a stable addressing and are thus permanently citable. Pedocs is the central publication server of the German Education Portal, thus enabling published contributions to gain optimal distribution in the community. In accordance with the Open Access guidlines, authors have the possibility to distribute their contributions in electronic format online free of charge.
Physics
ArXiv
ArXiv is likely the most important publication platform for physics and related fields (mathematics, computer science, quantitative biology, quantitative finance, statistics). It publishes both papers and preprints. This means that papers are explicitly published here before being submitted to a publisher or undergoing the peer review process. Submissions are evaluated afterwards by the community. The preprints follow the Open Access guidelines, making them accessible to everyone. They also are assigned stable addressing and are thus permanently citable.
SCOAP3
SCOAP³-HD (Sponsoring Consortium for Open Access Publishing in Particle Physics, Deutsche Hochschulen) is a worldwide Open Access initiative. It aims at making academic publications in high-energy physics accessible to all. Numerous key journals were converted to open access at the beginning of 2014. Peer reviewed articles are now published under the Creative Commons license "Namensnennung" (CC BY).
Publication is free of charge for you. The consortium, which the University Library is a part of, assumes the publication costs.

OpinioIuris
OpinioIuris is an Open Access platform for publishing and collecting legal texts. Registered authors can publish different types of content, both independently as well as collaboratively, under the Creative Commons license CC BY-SA, thus enabling open access to all legal literature.

SSOAR - Social Science Open Access Repository
SSOAR is the primary publication platform the social sciences and related fields. Authors can publish in any language. The platform also offers the possibility to publish complete collections or journal volumes. It is dedicated to the Open Access guidelines. EconStore
EconStore is the publication platform for literature in economics. It is an Open Access server. Published contributions are assigned stable addressing and are thus permanently citable. The platform also offers the possibility to recommend paper series and journals, so that they can be regularly included.
Postprints are primarily published, that is contributions that have already been published by a publishing house. To take advantage of this, please only give your publishing house simple rights to use and not exlusive ones.

The American Chemical Society offers the model ACS AuthorChoice for a fee. In it, an article is licensed open access, which is to be published in a traditionally published journal. There is a cost scale based on the institution's, that the author is a member of, subscription status.
