The Aachen Center of Patents and Standards is the only patent receiving office of the German Patent and Trade Mark Office, DPMA, in North Rhine-Westphalia and thus the contact for the entire federal state. Use our skilled advising on site and secure your registration as early as possible without having to travel or send mail to Munich.
As a receiving office we are required to give priority to the following trademark rights:
German, European, and international patent registrations
(§ 34 Abs. Art.II §4 Abs. 1 S. 1, Art. III §1 Abs. 2 IntPatÜG)
German registered design and design registrations
(§ 32 Abs.1 MarkenG, §11 Abs.1 GeschmMG)
The following documents are not accepted:
- Documents, that are being submitted for pending registrations
- Registrations for community and international trademarks (EU and IR trademarks)TRegistrations for community and international designs (EU and IR designs)

Assistance is provided by the Tips for your application from the DPMA.
During our opening hours Monday to Friday 8:30am to 4:30pm, Wednesday 8:30am to 6:30pm, you can submit your registrations in person to our PNZ staff at Templergraben 61, 3rd floor, room 312.
Outside of our opening hours you can use the designated afterhours mailbox in front of the University Library, Templergraben 61. All registrations received in the mailbox by midnight are assigned that day as the date of receipt.
You can also submit documents via mail or fax.
