Statistical Analysis as Part of the German Library Statistics
Data Privacy Statement: As part of its participation in the GLS, the RWTH Aachen University Library uses a process to count visits to its websites. When the homepage and/or catalog page are visited, an identifier of the library and relevant page, the time of the visit, and the signature of the computer used to access the site are saved.
The signature is created using a one-way function and is made up of the IP address, browser recognition, and proxy information. The collection, storage, and evaluation of this data is all conducted under a pseudonym, meaning the signature is not assigned to a specific person. The information, particularly the IP address, is not saved. The pseudonymous data is summarized and thus anonymized within 24 hours. The saved data are statistically analyzed in order to modify and further develop the website based on needs. The data are only used for this purpose and are deleted after the analysis. The Stuttgart Media University is responsible for the technical and organizational implementation of this process.
